Environmental sustainability

• It is completely off the grid and energy independent, running the entire plant on clean solar energy.

• It has reduced its emissions with a catalytic converter on its roasting machines .

• Even its coffee skins are recycled as they are converted into pellets for reuse as a fuel .

• It has planted trees in Milan to bring its carbon footprint to zero.

THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER
While not required by Italian law, Caffe Agust installed a catalytic converter as an after-burner for emissions into the atmosphere. This allows a further elimination of pollution particles from combustion, and for the conservation and security of clean air for people living near the roasting plant.
 

COFFEE MADE THROUGH THE SUN
In August 2007, our photovoltaic plant mounted on the roof of the company came on-line. Caffe Agust is now completely off the grid and energy independent, running the entire plant on clean solar energy. The annual capacity of this system is more than 52.000 Kwh. We could therefore say that by us coffee is "roasted by the sun".

KYOTO PROTOCOL
Caffe Agust is the first company in its sector to join the Zero Impact® LifeGate project called Impatto Zero® by registering the packaging on our fine organic Fair Trade Natura Equa 100% Arabica coffee. Following the Kyoto Protocol, the CO2 emissions are offset by the creation of new forests in an area of Parco del Ticino in Italy.  

FAIR TRADE, ORGANIC AND...For years we have wanted to support the Fair-Trade projects, and 5 years ago we finally launched the previously-mentioned Natura Equa coffee blend.

Natura Equa is a fine selection of certified Fair-Trade 100% Arabica coffee, coming from organic farmers in Central and South America with fruit and floral flavours, particularly appreciated by those who love a sweet and smooth coffee but rich in nuances and mouth filling.

In June 2007 we enriched our FairTrade range of products by launching Kafequo.
A coffee blend different from Natura Equa, with a more persisting taste, a full body and a very good cream. Kafequo was produced with the classic client in mind; someone who desires beginning their day drinking a "twice good" coffee: good in taste and good because it is fair.
TransFair ensures a better deal for third world producers. The producers are paid a fair price for their quality coffee. Caffè Agust is proud to be FairTrade license.
